Spring is my second favourite time of year. The days are getting brighter and there's hope that warmer weather will be here. I also love all the flowers and new life. The cute lambs in the fields and the tulips and daffodils bringing their colour to what was so dull just a week before. I have compiled a list of books suitable for toddlers and preschoolers around the theme of spring. What Other Learning Could I Link In With Spring Books? After reading these spring-themed books, why not try out one of these other activity suggestions? A sensory bin with dried spaghetti painted green and broken into pieces about 4cm long. Mixed together to look like grass. Add some flower sprinkles and some tubs and spoons and plastic or wooden baby animals. Get outside and do a spring scavenger hunt Create a woolly sheep using contact paper attached to a low window/French door and cotton wool balls. Create a daffodil picture using yellow and green tissue paper and pens. Go and splash in muddy puddles and play in a mud kitchen. Watch the rain, talk about what clothes we wear when it rains and why. Are You There Little Bee? by Taplin Sam With holes to peep through and finger trails to follow, this is a great book for little ones. When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes A delightful board book showing the changes that happen when winter turns into spring. That's Not My Chick... We love all the That's Not My Books in our house. Great books to introduce babies and toddlers to a love of reading. Each page has something to touch and feel and the repetition is great. The Very Hungry Caterpillar's First Spring by Eric Carle A trip through the land in springtime with the very hungry caterpillar. Spring ABC by Jannie Ho A beautifully illustrated board board with a different spring word for each letter of the alphabet. Fluffy Chick by Rod Campbell Meet a bunch of favourite springtime animals in this touch-and-feel board book. Baby Animals A touch and feel book introducing your little one to new baby animals. With amazing illustrations, this gentle story introduces your little one to the natural world in springtime.
