Easter Crafts for Toddlers

Easter is upon us once again, though it feels pretty early this year compared to last. It means the weather is getting nicer but there are still quite a lot of rainy days so what better way to pass the time with your little ones than having a stash of Easter crafts up your sleeves. Here I’ve created a list of creative ideas for you and your young child to keep them occupied if the weather isn’t that great.

  • Easter egg stained glass window – using sticky-backed plastic and an outline of an Easter egg or an Easter bunny or chick. Rip up pieces of coloured tissue paper and let your toddler loose sticking it onto the sticky plastic. This can then be hung up in a window as a cute decoration for Easter.
  • Fluffy Sheep Window Decoration – similar to above, cut out an outline of a sheep and attach sticky-backed plastic to the middle of it. Then, let your little one add cotton wool balls to the sheep to make their own Easter lamb.
  • Paint Easter eggs. Hard boil some eggs and provide your toddler with a variety of paint colours. Let them loose to decorate the eggs as they like. Here are more detailed instructions on boiling the eggs.
  • Free-style Easter Painting. Give your child a piece of A4 paper. Provide Easter colours such as green, yellow, pale pink and pale blue and see how they paint the page. Once it’s dry, stick a cut out of a bunny or egg over the top.
  • Easter Baskets – decorate with pens, crayons or paints. Get an adult to cut out the basket and stick it together. They have their own basket for collecting Easter eggs on their Easter egg hunt.
  • Easter Chick Handprint – Paint your child’s hand yellow and print it onto a piece of paper. Add orange chick legs. Once dry, add two googly eyes and an orange triangle for a beak. You now have a cute keepsake of a chick handprint.

  • Easter egg stamping – Open those plastic empty Easter eggs and use a half as a stamp. Dip it in paint and stamp it over a piece of paper. Use different colours of paint and see what artwork your toddler can create.

  • Shaving Foam Painted Bunny – Shops sell cut outs of Easter shapes on card. If you can’t find any, cut out your own from a piece of card. Get a tray with shaving foam and some paint. Ask your child to swirl it a little, support if needed, and then help them lay the bunny on top of the foam. Press down a little and take off. Scrape any shaving foam off the card using an old credit card or store card and leave the bunny to dry. Once dry, glue a pom pom on it for it’s tail.
