How To Make The Best Bubbles Ever!

Do you want to know how to make enormous bubbles? Bubbles bigger than your head? Then, look no further as I’ve got the recipe and how to make the wand in this post. To make the bubble mixture, you just need four ingredients: washing up liquid, cornflour, glycerin and water.

Home-Made Bubble Mixture Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (250ml) washing up liquid/dish soap
  • 1 tablespoon of cornflour/cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of glycerin
  • 2 cups (500ml) of water

Method for Making Home-Made Bubble Mixture:

  1. Add the washing up liquid, cornflour and glycerin to a large dish.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Add the water and whisk until the mixture has bubbles on top.
  4. Take out to your garden and place your bowl on the floor.
  5. Using a giant bubble wand (instructions on how to make one are below), slowly bring the strings up out of the mixture, keeping the strings together.
  6. Once up in the air, separate the strings slowly and move the wand to let air get into the mixture to help form a bubble.
  7. When you like the size of the bubble, bring the sticks together and close off the bubble.
  8. Watch your enormous bubble float away or be chased and popped by the children.

How To Make A Giant Bubble Wand:

Equipment:

  • String
  • Scissors
  • 2 x garden bamboo sticks
  • A metal keyring chain

Method for Making A Giant Bubble Wand:

The sizes I’m including are the sizes for our wand but you could make yours bigger or smaller depending on what size bubbles you want.

  1. Cut one piece of string at 50cm and another at 140cm.
  2. Tie the shorter piece of string between the two sticks at the top of the sticks.
  3. Tie one end of the longer piece of string onto one stick exactly where the first string is tied on.
  4. Take your keyring apart so you just have the heavy metal ring. Slide this onto the longer piece of string.
Keyring

  1. Tie the other end of the longer piece of string onto the second stick exactly where the shorter string is on the stick. This makes a sort of triangle with the strings.
  2. Hold the sticks apart so the string doesn’t get tangled.
  3. Then dip all the string into the bubble mix to make your bubbles.

It gets quite addictive wanting to make the biggest bubble. Have fun making giant bubbles!
