Are you looking for a fun, crafty activity with your young children for Christmas? Why not combine a piece of art with making Christmas cards for friends and family. This toddler and preschooler activity can even be made by older children as it’s just a lot of fun and doesn’t have to be perfect.
These cards were a hit with my 2-year-old and 4-year-old. They were easy to make, needed minimal assistance and they look like a child made them, rather than just an adult.
Tip – add a sprinkling of white or silver glitter before the paint dries to add an element of sparkle.

Resources needed:
- Card
- Blue paper
- Black paper
- Orange paper
- Green paper
- White paint
- paint brush
- Glue
- Scissors

Instructions:
- Fold a piece of white card in half.
- Cut out a piece of blue paper that is just smaller than the size of one half of the card.
- Prepare the white paint and get your child to paint on the blue paper any way they like.
- Let it dry.

- While it’s drying, get the black paper and cut out a hat, some circles for the buttons and two stick arms.
- Using the green paper, cut out a scarf shape.
- Cut out a triangle from the orange paper for the snowman’s nose.
- Ask your child to glue the parts of the snowman on, or you glue them and give them to them to glue on.
- Leave it to dry and then write the card.

Have fun making these!
